Ruth Bernhard, she is one of the old masters of figurative work. Her lighting, respect and honor for the subject, it’s the perfect balance of power and beauty. For me it transcends space, time, and universes. One of my favorite quotes by her,

“Light is my inspiration, my paint and brush. It is as vital as the model herself. Profoundly significant, it caresses the essential superlative curves and lines. Light I acknowledge as the energy upon which all life on this planet depends.”

– Ruth Bernhard

Tell us about your style of photography?

I’m an experimental / surrealist contemporary who wants to mind fuck you, but also show you subtle technique, and beautiful lighting like the old masters of photography.

Is there a specific camera you love to use?

My main camera is a Nikon F3 with a MD-4 motodrive, DA-2 viewfinder, and 50mm, 1.4 AiS lens.

Do you have a favourite subject you like to photograph?

For the past few years it’s been figurative work of the female form. I wanted to explore vulnerability, desxualization and the poetic nature of the human body.

If you weren’t doing this, what would you be doing for a career?

I’d be designing footwear, I have a huge passion for sneakers and design. I’d definitely love to collaborate with Balmain, Lavin, Nike or Balenciaga.

What was the last song you listened to?

I’ve been obsessed with this remix of Alina Baraz- Morocco feat. 6LACK (Devault Remix)

Go-to drink?

A dark n stormy, which is dark rum and ginger beer. But only with Goslings or Bundaberg ginger beer, all the other ones are trash unfortunately.

Who would you like to be stuck in an elevator with?

My current crush / muse, her name is …

If you could have one superpower what would it be and how would you use it?

Time travel duh! I’d use it to create all throughout time.  I’d love to meet my favorite artistic heroes, and explore paris in the rain, in the 1920’s.

What did you do on your last day off?

Nothing too exciting, I’ve been redesigning a new webshop for my art. www.shdwsofdust.com 😉
